Compare quickly between two excel sheets in the same workbook

Most of the time i have to compare the data between two sheets in the same Excel workbook. If it was in a different file, it would have been easier to do a Alt+Tab or Tile windows to check out the contents.Initially, i copied the content to the same sheet for easier reference or copied to a new workbook or used the keyboard shortcut to move between the sheets. But recently i found that Excel has this feature inbuilt. You can get second view of the same excel workbook. You can tile horizontally or vertically just like any other window. On top of it , it can also do a synchronized scrolling i.e if you move one record on the first view it moves one record on the second view. This helps a lot while comparing the data.

To do this. Go to View tab and click on new window. It would create another view of the same excel sheet. The first one would have <FileName>:1 as title and second with <FileName>:2. Now click on "view side by side" and "Synchronized scrolling" if required. If you don't like the view you can tile it differently by clicking on the "Arrange All " and select the view. You might have to select the "Windows of active workbook".

Side by Side view of  same excel sheet

You can save the workspace so that you get the same view when you open the same file again. This helps if you work on the same excel sheet often.

There are so many features like this in excel which most of us don't use it a lot.
